We went to John and Sandra's (where Dave and Gretel are staying) along
with a few other friends to participate in Gretel's family tradition,
not knowing much more than that.
The tradition is really cool--the group makes a nativity scene out of
clay.
The only requirement is that someone has to make Mary and Joseph and
the baby Jesus.
Other characters are optional, and anyone else might show up.
After we made the characters, Gretel assembled them in an empty
nativity scene.
I'm not saying which one(s) I made...
This was a good chance for me to practice some close-up photography.
The night-time indoor lighting made for long exposures and narrow
depth of field.
I really like the few that worked out so that the main character(s)
are so sharp you can see the maker's fingerprints but other characters
in the foreground or background are slightly out of focus.
Anyway, I'm learning, and it's fun.
